Think Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

It was expected that 207,090 new cases of invasisve breast cancer occured among US women in 2010 and 1,970 new cases in US men.  Breast cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers in women. With advancing time and technology, breast cancer incidence rates have decreased from 1999 to 2006 by 2.0% per year. Decreased incidence rates can be attributed to increased awareness and early detection, and progress in diagnosis and treatment.  One-third of cancer related deaths in the US can be attributed to poor nutrition, physical inactivity, and excess weight gain.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Take these steps now for prevention. Follow these nutrition tips recommended by the American Cancer Society to build a path to a healthy future.

  • Maintain a healthy weight throughout life.

  • Make physical activity part of your lifestyle.
